Military-Connected Information

Lemoore Union High School District (LUHSD) is committed to supporting military-connected students and their families during the school transition and registration process, as well as providing information and resources for academic enrichment. LUHSD aims to engage in school and community partnership initiatives that foster student success while addressing the unique needs of military-connected students.

Some of those needs are:

Reducing the burden on military-connected students and their families
Provide transition supports, and
Identify schools that are committed and best equipped to meet the needs of military-connected students and their families.

Military Student Identifier

What is a Military Student Identifier? The ‘Every Student Succeeds Act’ (ESSA) includes a “military student identifier” (MSI) which requires school districts to assign a unique identification number to military students such as done for other special populations, such as special education, migrant, English learners, and homeless youth to allow educators to monitor their progress to implement strategic programs to increase academic success. Similar to other identifiers, personally identifiable information is not collected or disclosed. In November 2017, the California Department of Education (CDE) was permitted to implement the MSI, following months of active engagement by Commander, Navy Region Southwest, Marine Corps Installation West, several legislators, and the Governor’s Military Council.
